About OrbaOS

The origin and future of the methodology

OrbaOS began as a frustrated project manager's experiment: What if we stopped having status meetings?

That experiment revealed something larger. When you stop coordinating manually, you're forced to rethink how organizations actually work. You realize that most of what we call "management" is actually coordination overhead—busywork that exists because we haven't had better alternatives.

Now we do.

The Methodology

OrbaOS is a methodology for organizations where AI handles coordination and humans focus on meaning, ethics, and strategy. It's built on four layers:

  • Values Layer: The ethical and strategic commitments that guide autonomous systems
  • Flow Layer: How work moves from inception to delivery
  • Intelligence Layer: AI systems that sense, decide, and coordinate
  • Human Layer: Where distinctively human contribution happens

Why "OrbaOS"

The name combines "Orba" (from Latin orbis, meaning sphere or cycle—representing continuous flow) with "OS" (operating system). It's an operating system for organizations that operate in cycles and flows, not projects and phases.

Who Should Use OrbaOS

OrbaOS is designed for organizations that:

  • Are drowning in coordination overhead
  • Have work that's becoming more complex and unpredictable
  • Are ready to trust AI for routine coordination
  • Are willing to rethink organizational structures

It's not for organizations that need tight control, predictable timelines, or hierarchical approval chains.

Open Source Methodology

OrbaOS is open source. The methodology, frameworks, and tools are freely available. You can implement it without permission, licensing, or fees.

The goal isn't to build a consulting business. It's to change how organizations work.
